I'm looking for a good thesis statement.?

What would be a good thesis statement for a paper that considers the relationships of a parent and one child in each of the following stories? "Half and Half," "Woman Hollering Creek," Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been," and "Everyday Use." I can't think of an argument to argue that all four of these stories have in common.
